Geertje & Elly (Netherlands)

Hello, we are Geertje (50) and Elly (48). We live in Friesland in Holland. We participated with Khaya Volunteer Projects And Projects Abroad at the Missionvale Project and really enjoyed our stay.

Khaya Volunteer picked us up and arranged our stay with a host family and the project of course.

The project Missionvale in the middle of the township has given us a variety of tasks and activities to help with. We worked in the soup kitchen; we played and helped with the children, the clothing depot and the sewing group. It has been a great experience that left a big impression on us.

We were welcomed in a great way by Khaya at the airport and they helped us to get to know the surroundings and to find our way. For us it was especially good to know there is somebody there who we can call when we have questions, but it was good to have the space to explore at our own pace and do what we wanted to do as volunteers.

The host family was super; we had a great time with friendly and loving people.

For us South Africa and volunteering is something we will never forget!
