About

Early childhood development is one of the most overlooked education sectors currently in South Africa, especially in the rural communities. The Wild Coast Education Project works with 4 preschools from the surrounding rural and township areas to ensure that the children at these schools can get the best education possible for them.

The schools which range from infants to 5 year old's are often the only place where these children can have a safe learning environment. The volunteers work alongside the teachers in the schools and local community volunteers to meet the needs and requirements of the children on a day-to-day basis.

The project organization has actively been involved in the schools and communities of the Wild Coast for the last 10 years and have been placing volunteers at these schools for the past 5 years.

Needs

The needs of the project are for volunteers to help and support the people already involved with these children so that a positive impact can be left on the children and the community.

Guidance and Supervision

When you arrive you will be given an orientation before you are placed into your projects.

Orientation will cover the following:
  • Understanding South Africa

  • A visit to the schools as a practical introduction
You will also have 24 hour support from the local coordinators.
